Reading Journal for Marley and Me

In this part of the book, John's neighborhood is becoming very unsafe.  This is really bad because of he has a young son Patrick, and I can't help but thinking that if it is bad in his neighborhood now, that it can only get worse.  One incident that happened was that there was a murder.  Their has been a murder in the same neighborhood some years ago, however unlike the murder in the past, this one was at random; the victim had no relation with the murderer.  To me, it almost doesn't seem as bad when the people had conflicts with each other, because then you think that it was between those people are now in jail.  However, now it seems even worse because someone felt that it was necessary to take another individuals' life for their own personal gain.  They concluded that the motive of the murder was to have the money they could find in the victim's house, and they only found $16.

Another problem was prostitution.  When John was walking Marley to the market, on several occasions, he was asked if he was... and they would say a name.  This was not only inappropriate, but very disgraceful to themselves and the shallow men that they were encouraging.
