Reading Journal

The first incident that I read about was when the whole family went out to an outdoor place for dinner. However, since Marley was there things got out of hand. Marley was tied to the table and when he saw another dog. He HAD to see and sniff it, so he ran towards it and took the entire table with him. That must have been so embarrassing and disappointing to John and Jenny because they described it as the "perfect night" with their wonderful family.

After that, John read a book that a professional dog trainer wrote that wasn't very assuring, because she suggested that the best solution to having an uncontrollable dog was to put it to sleep. I found this very sad because I can't imagine killing someone that you have come to love so much just because you can't overlook their flaws.

They also welcomed a new member into the family, their third child, but their first girl. Since she is the only daughter I imagined her growing up to be really strong because she has two older brothers. I also think that she will be very spoiled because she is the only girl and she is the youngest.

Two months after the birth of John's daughter he turned 40. It was really sad how his birthday seemed to be overlooked and forgotten. This was especially unfortunate because it is a major stepping stone in his life. However, it was just a setup and Jenny had planned him a surprise party.

Then, John discovered that Marley's strange fear of thunderstorms wasn't so ridiculous after all, when he was struck by lightening as he was trying to finish his garden.
